In 2014, the PA Turnpike Commission decided to create plans for a beltway that would "optimize" the use of the Turnpike's NE Extension ( I-476) and PennDOT's I-81. While adequate connections at the Wyoming Valley and Clarks Summit interchanges "might" relieve congestion on I-81 — there was no mention of how this was actually going to be accomplished — by destroying homes of the elderly, couples, widows, widowers, single parents, and children — in order to put in a ramp.
Longstanding members of the community were given a letter with zero explanation of what may ACTUALLY happen to their homes.
The Tompkins Family (Walter and Ann) who have lived on Willow Lane for 41 years, along with other community members, of Woodcrest Estates, have decided to save their neighborhood. After all, it is where they live.
