I am the owner of 18 Witham Road. It has been converted into a Luxury accomodation business called Stone House Lodge.
We have spent a huge amount of time, effort and money to restore this property to make it into a shining example in Woodhall Spa.
We have been fighting to obtain change of use permission to a guest house from E.L.D.C for three years. They have denied this permission on the following grounds:
1. the off-road parking of cars to the property grounds is "obtrusive"
2. the guest house would not enhance or improve this conservation area
However, we are allowed and do not need any permission to use the property as a DHSS hostel, with NO restrictons on how many cars are parked and would be at liberty to turn the whole property grounds including the garden into a car park!
The final decision is to be made at the planning committee late November.
At present the E.L.D.C recommendation is to refuse the permission and consequently forcibly close or prosecute us. At that point we would have no alternative but to close down or turn the house into a DHSS hostel.
