Demand New Signs to be put on Wild Turtle Beaches!

After a beach cleaning by Lets Make Cyprus Green at Paramali beach in Limassol, Cyprus (which happens to be a turtle breeding beach). It was discovered that a majority of the signs with warnings and beach rules put by the government were either old, no longer readable due to weather conditions, and some even removed from the ground and thrown in the bushes, therefore not being visible for beach visitors. The Green & Loggerhead Turtles that nest/hatch here are endangered, priority species - only 1 in 1,000 make it to adulthood. What was found by LMCG durring the beach cleaning is beyond words. Garbage was not disposed of properly, and the land was not being respected by the beach visitors. In addition to having new signs put up, there should also be heavy fines and disciplinary actions for anyone who litters and/or disobeys the current turtle beach rules. Nesting/hatching season starts in May, so please, let's help turtles who nest at our beaches and their little hatchlings by demanding that the Cyprus government put up new signs so beach visitors are more cautious when visiting the turtle breeding beaches by not doing anything that jeopardizes their survival!
