End the pitbull ban!

June 11, 2016. Police shot and killed a dog that was found attacking and mauling, a Montreal woman. Fast forward a few months later, October 3, 2016, a law is approved to ban all pitbull AND pitbull looking dogs in Montreal. The law is as follows: "The dogs must be sterilised, micro-chipped and vaccinated. They must also be kept on a short leash and muzzled in public. Pitbull owners must undergo a criminal background check." Now fast forward to present day, a little more than a year after the ban was placed. This ban has done nothing but discriminate against dogs that are also known as "bully breeds" such as: the American Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier, Boston Terrier, etc.; for the actions of ONE dog that might not even have been a pitbull. This ban has caused people to experience unnecessary struggles; an example is having to buy permits to keep your dog. Imagine having to muzzle up a dog, no, your baby, every day just to take them for a walk. People around you might look at the dog and think, "This dog is dangerous. It could potentially kill me." In reality, it wouldn't. In fact, pitbulls are not even on the top three dog breeds that bite people. (The Doberman, The Chowchow, and the Akita are the top three) This ban has been ongoing for more than a year and nothing has changed; attacks are still happening. However, since pitbulls are the main focus today, we are not noticing other breeds attacking. For example, a few days before the woman was killed, a four-year-old girl was killed by a Siberian husky; however, no one wanted a law to be placed Back when that happened. Now with all this in mind, pitbulls and bully breeds are being discriminated, just for ONE attack. Is that fair for other pitbull owners, just because ONE Pitbull killed someone? If you think this isn't fair, then sign below so we can end the Montreal pitbull ban!
