Hagia Sophia – Restore It to the Orthodox Church

Hagia Sophia, built in 537 AD under the Orthodox Emperor Justinian I, is not simply a cultural monument but the foremost Orthodox Christian cathedral in history. For more than nine centuries, it was the heart of Eastern Christianity, the Patriarchal Cathedral of Constantinople, and the most glorious symbol of the Orthodox faith.

📌 Historical Truth:

Hagia Sophia was consecrated as an Orthodox cathedral and served exclusively as such from 537 until 1453.
For nearly one thousand years, the Divine Liturgy of the Orthodox Church was celebrated there daily.
The so-called “conversion” in 1453 was not a peaceful transition but the violent seizure of a Christian sanctuary, accompanied by desecration, forced Islamization, and the suppression of Orthodoxy.
Even after the Great Schism of 1054, Hagia Sophia remained firmly Orthodox — it was never a Roman Catholic cathedral.
In 1934, when it was turned into a museum, it was stripped of its sacred function. To reduce it to a museum was already an injustice, for it denied the Church the right to its holiest temple. To reduce it again to a mosque in 2020 compounded this injustice — a double betrayal of truth and history.

⚖️ Justice demands restoration, not compromise.
The world must recognize that Hagia Sophia is not merely “heritage,” not a museum piece, not a tourist site. It is, and always has been, the Great Church of Christ — the Cathedral of Holy Wisdom, the Mother Church of Orthodoxy.
