No more excuses! It's time to save Doñana National Park

The Doñana National Park, one of the most important natural areas in Europe, is in danger: overexploitation of aquifers, urban and tourism pressure and poor conservation of protected areas are threatening with death an unique marsh ecosystem. This situation has been repeatedly denounced by the European Union, but the Government of Spain, far from taking decisive remedy measures, is giving more and more excuses.

In a report of the Hydrographic Confederation of the Guadalquivir, the Government blames climate change for the deterioration that the park is suffering. Climate change is a serious challenge, but shouldn’t be an excuse to avoid taking the measures that Doñana National Park needs.

Experts from the EU have made clear what Doñana needs: to eliminate wells in neighboring towns, to limit transfers of water and to restrain urban and tourist developments. Will Spanish Government stop making excuses in order to take steps to save Doñana? It’s up to us: let's raise our voices and ask the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of the Guadalquivir and the Government of Spain to implement the necessary measures to save Doñana.

Please, take the measures to save Doñana National Park recommended by the EU.
