On January 22nd, 2015, Dr. Todd Faraone, DVM, was terminated from his position as Head Administrator and Veterinarian for DuPage County Animal Care and Control. Under his leadership, DCACC had zero euthanasias of adoptable animals due to lack of space in both 2013 and 2014 (an accomplishment many directors before him were unable to do). In addition, he started a training program (STAR) for our adoption dogs that greatly enhances the quality of their lives. Dr. Faraone provided medical care for over 3,000 animals each year and spayed/neutered approximately 1,000 animals each year. He inherited a broken and divided shelter, but transformed it from a pound into a progressive, modern facility where the main focus is the quality of care for animals. His termination happened to occur on the same day that he was to be vested in the county's pension plan after 8 years of dedicated service. Volunteers, supporters and staff of the shelter feel he was wrongfully terminated and wish to return him to his position. His termination leaves the welfare of DCACC's animals with a very uncertain future.
