Support for Alternatives to Vessel Monitoring Systems

Stopping this Vessel Monitoring System law from passing will help to keep similar invasions of our privacy from spreading to other areas of our lives.

Please think about how you would like to be required by law to install an expensive and intrusive Vehicle Monitoring System in your car to make sure you did not park in No Parking Zones. What if you were one of only 5% of drivers required to do this? Would you think a video camera monitoring only the no parking zone to insure 100% of drivers complied with the law would be fairer?

Marine Protected Areas should be monitored with data buoys or platforms equipped with video cameras that monitor all vessels entering closed areas. This would provide visual markers for fishermen to avoid. It would only monitor fishermen entering closed areas rather than their every move. It would protect closed areas from poaching by any fishermen rather than a small minority of commercial fishermen. It would avoid the Constitutional violation of a law requiring American citizens to install Vessel Monitoring Systems on their private property. Please go to my website to learn more about this and other fishery issues including how we can stop wasting tons of seafood. www.freefish7.com
