Pursue Every Count and a Lifetime Animal Ban in the Bellingham Rescue Neglect Case

My name is Eric, and I run I Love Every Dog. Every rescue runs on trust. When someone who calls themselves a rescuer is accused of breaking that trust, the people who have to answer are the prosecutors who decide how far the case goes.

According to Cascadia Daily News, Whatcom County sheriff's deputies visited a Bellingham property on October 5 and found dozens of dogs living in poor conditions without access to food or water. At least one dog died. Volunteers removed 13 animals. The woman who operated the rescue, Ashley Georgia, was arrested on October 23 and charged with 30 counts of animal cruelty. She pleaded not guilty on October 26 and is presumed innocent unless convicted.

The court set bail at $200,000 and ordered no contact with animals if she is released. A status hearing is set for November 18 and trial for December 14.

To the Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney: I am asking you to pursue every count that the evidence supports, to oppose any bail reduction that would put animals at risk, and, if there is a conviction, to seek the strongest available sentence including a permanent ban on owning, housing, or caring for animals. Please also make sure that every dog removed from the property gets a full veterinary evaluation and a safe path to adoption.

The dogs in this case were bully breeds, the dogs most often passed over. They deserve the same justice as any other animal. Please sign and share so the prosecutor knows the community is following this case to its conclusion.
