Improving the Relatability of our elected officials

In one of the most defining times in human existence, the feeling of division seems greater now than ever . This petition is for the people and meant to even the playing field among the people of the Unites States with those they have elected to represent them. When ratified this will amend the pay scale for public servants to not exceed the average wage in their area of service (accounting for cost of living based on the geographic location).

This change will help those elected relate to their constituents on a level that seems forgotten. In our current climate the need for our elected officials to have common ground with the people has never been so critical. If public servants want a raise, they must improve the quality of life of their constitutes and increase the average pay scale to receive that same boost in their own pay.

If the compensation is so lucrative that it diminishes their ability to serve effectively a change is in order. A reduced pay scale might deter the officials just out for a fat pay check and good retirement(Under both CSRS and FERS, Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at the age of 62 if they have completed at least five years of service). The dominant motive for running to "serve" the country should be that of passion and character. While the fate of the human race hangs in the balance of our near future decision, the best qualified candidates to represent the voters are essential.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same action expecting different results.We aim to make a needed change to break the repeating cycle that has led us to record debt and a country in need of true non bias leaders.
