Petition To Ban Basketballs from Being Used Outside of Designated Zones in Starke County, Indiana

  • al: Peter Scott
  • destinatario: Board of Directors for the Starke County Economic Development Foundation

This petition is demanding that the elected representatives of Starke County take action to enact a ban on basketballs rombeing used outside of designated public and private areas or zones and to ban the open carry of basketballs without them being concealed securely in a backpack, duffle bag or other appropriately fitting bag. Basketball players should consider treat their sport professionally. Basketballs should only be displayed openly, outside of their carrying backpack or bag when in use on park basketball courts, school basketball courts, professional stadium basketball courts or privately owned basketball courts where the land owner's permission has been obtained to use that basketball court. Private basketball courts must allow enough room for the basketball to bounce off court and not intrude on public space or another land owner's private land unless that land owner or those land owners have given permission in the community for such an activity to take place. It could be possible to establish regulations that an entire neighborhood has to agree to put up basketball courts, otherwise a basketball could cause an accident or injury to a member of the immediate community. Please take action now to enact these policies to create a safer, healthier and more secure space for current and future generations of our communities.
