Northbrook Institutes for Research and Development (NIRD) was an independent group of physicians that performed preauthorization for any imaging study that cost more than five hundred dollars. The business is referred to as Radiology Benefit Management (RBM).

This business was done with NIA (National Imaging Associates) for fifteen years without any complaints. Magellan Health acquired NIA in 2004. Magellan, in a predatory act, tried several times to destroy NIRD without success the summary of the charges as detailed below.

This includes fraudulent charges to Medicare, denial of civil rights and vindictive actions that NIRD no longer in business. NIRD demands immediate injunction against Magellan and NIA.
