If Comcast fulfills plans to take over NBC, thereby acquiring Hulu, Bravo, Oxygen, and other popular channels, our cable rates will likely increase and some of the shows we love to watch now for free could start costing us.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will vote on this merger, and now is your chance to stand up for free television communication. A merger will likely result in Comcast charging its cable competitors more to get NBC's channel line-up, and those costs will get passed on to us!
Keep the shows you love to watch on Hulu and all NBC channels, like "The Office" or "Top Chef" free or at the same rates. Urge your Representative in Congress to push for a "NO" vote on this Comcast/NBC merger!

The Federal Communications Commission is about to decide whether Comcast can gobble up NBC. That's a direct route to higher prices for Comcast customers and even fewer choices if I want to get my programming elsewhere. Tell the FCC to just say "NO!"
NBC now provides free TV, and owns a major stake in Hulu.com, a free TV online service. Comcast is in the business of making people pay a monthly subscription for programming and for internet access.

Comcast wants to buy NBC, gaining control over popular programs like "The Office" and a big stake in Hulu.com.
Free programs could become subscriber-only, and cable subscribers may find their favorite programs bumped up to more costly "tiers." Comcast says nothing will change, but once they have this kind of power, they will use it to squeeze every dollar out of me.
If Comcast buys NBC, I believe cable and Internet rates will increase and free programming will start to be a thing of the past. Already it is hard to "vote with my feet" because there's no competition. If Comcast and competitors charge high fees to carry NBC programs, then I will have no choice at all.
