Ban Horse Slaughter!

The vast majority of Americans oppose horse slaughter as a cruel, unnecessary, predatory industry — but the effort to ban slaughter through a federal bill has stalled for more than a decade.

Congress is considering the Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act, a bipartisan bill that would prevent the cruel horse slaughter industry from reestablishing operations in the U.S. and prohibit the export of American horses abroad for slaughter.

Every year that goes by without the SAFE Act passing means that tens of thousands of healthy American horses are trucked over our borders to be butchered for human consumption.

The House version of the SAFE Act has topped 218 cosponsors. This means that it now enjoys the support of over half of the House's 435 members! While this is good news, we need all hands on deck to ensure this bill passes in both chambers of Congress before the current session times out at the end of this year.

Every horse is just one bad sale away from slaughter. Support the SAFE Act and join the fight to ban horse slaughter once and for all.
