Protect critical marine areas and wildlife this World Oceans Day

The world's coral reefs and their associated marine life face some of the most urgent challenges of our time, but are home to an amazing 25% of the planet's marine biodiversity—today's opportunity to protect them must be seized for the health and future of us all.

Wildlife Conservation Society has comprehensive long-term strategies to address the threats our oceans and their wildlife face. We have experts located around the world working closely with coastal communities and governments to create real, practical solutions to preserve the most critical marine ecosystems on Earth.

Places like the rare reef complex off of the East African coast that WCS researchers discovered: Located in a rare ocean cool spot species of all kinds can shelter from the effects of a warming climate, from prehistoric fish to dugongs to spinner dolphins. But like so many others, this refuge is at risk: unsustainable fishing practices and plans for coastal development threaten the future of all species that rely on it. We can't lose critical marine areas like this.

Will you pledge to stand with us and protect one of the planet's most important natural resources: our oceans and the marine life they sustain?
