We, the undersigned, oppose the forced deportation of Teshome Gebrekidan of the United States.
We oppose the forceful deportation of Teshome Gebrekidan for the following reasons:
DEPORTATION BREAKS UP FAMILIES:
Teshome Gebrekidan has a beautiful wife, two beautiful American Daughters. His family depends on him for the emotional support, family support and love.
As a successful business man, he has become responsible for te financial support of twelve additional families by providing employment and fanancial support.
UNFAIR INS DECISION
We the family and friends of Teshome Gebrekidan are strongly urging you to use your influence to prevent the pending deportation to Ethiopia which is not his native country. We urge you to use your influence to help grant him his Green Card.
Teshome is a native Eritrean who came to this country with his family at age sixteen. Teshome is now Thirty-eight years old. Most of his life has been spent in the United States. The only culture he knows is his beloved adpoted American Culture. Teshome knows very little about his native culture and nothing about the Ethiopian Culture.
We are not suggesting that Teshome has always been "Perfect ." As a kid he made mistake. We can say that Teshome paid for whatever mistakes he made. When an individual makes a mistake and pays for that mistake is it fair to keep the punishment going for the rest of that person's life?
It is impressive the steps this individual has taken to improve his life. In improving his life he has also steped up to the plate paying back to society by giving of his time and creating opportunities for others.

The 1996 Immigration and Welfare Reform policy stipulates that non-citizens convicted of certain crimes, including aggravated felonies are mandatorly deportable. Additionally, aggravated felony has been broadened to include shoplifting, corporal punishment, D.U.I. and other minor violations.
Teshome Gebrekidan does not fall under this law. This law was enacted after his crime was commited and his debt to society was being served.
Sending Teshome to Ethiopia as punishment after already having served his sentences is cruel and nusal punishment and i a violation of his human rights. We exhort the Department of Justice and the INS to reconsider his deportation decision.
We are demanding a moratorium on all deportations. We appeal for justice for individuals, who have the right to stay in the United States with their families and our comunity from which they draw love and support.
