Save California's Schools

30% of California high school students do not graduate and that number could soon be higher if state legislators don't act now.

The education funding in Gov. Brown's proposed budget is dependent on revenue that is derived from temporary taxes and fees. California schools will lose an additional $5 billion dollars if those temporary funds are allowed to expire on July 1st.

In order for Californians to have a say in the matter, 2/3 of the state legisture must agree to the revenue extensions. Unfortunately, the issue is 4 votes short, meaning that the people of California may never get the chance to vote on the issue.

California's funding for K-12 education is already at the bottom of almost every list in state by state comparison. Across the state, class sizes are growing, school years are shrinking, and vital classes in the arts are being cut. Stand up for California's students and demand the right to vote on the revenue extension that could save the schools.
Educational standards across California are already suffering because of the lack of adequate funding. Children are missing out on some of the most important educational opportunities, but we can prevent further cuts.

I demand that the people of California be given the chance to vote on the extension of temporary taxes and fees that would generate $5 billion dollars worth of funding for schools.
