Tell Congress: Protect Tigers. Support the Big Cat Public Safety Act.

There are around 5,000 captive tigers here in the US but there is no accounting for these animals, including who owns them, when they're sold and traded, or what happens to their valuable parts when they die. For these reasons, the US is unable to ensure that its tiger population isn't feeding an illegal trade that remains the primary threat to wild tigers.

We must ensure laws are in place to protect these endangered animals. Congress is considering the Big Cat Public Safety Act (H.R. 1380), a bipartisan bill that will go a long way in ensuring that the US minimizes its risk of contributing to the illegal trade in tiger parts and products. The bill also helps ensure the welfare of these animals and has provisions for improved public safety.

Ask your Member of Congress to cosponsor the Big Cat Public Safety Act (H.R. 1380), which would help ensure that the US does its part in the fight against illegal tiger trade.

Dear [representative],

The US government has demonstrated strong bipartisan leadership to tackle illegal wildlife trafficking for almost a decade. However, the US is also home to around 5,000 captive tigers—and there is no accounting for these animals, including who owns them, when they're sold and traded, or what happens to their valuable parts when they die. For these reasons, the US is unable to ensure that its tiger population isn't feeding an illegal trade that remains the primary threat to tigers remaining in the wild.

I am asking you to cosponsor the Big Cat Public Safety Act (H.R. 1380), a bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) that will go a long way in ensuring that the US minimizes its risk of contributing to the illegal trade in tiger parts and products. The bill also helps ensure the welfare of these animals and has provisions for improved public safety.

[Your comments]

Please cosponsor the Big Cat Public Safety Act and send a message that the US continues to stand strong in its fight against wildlife crime and holds itself to the same standards it expects of other countries.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
