Texas has an ambitious plan for electric vehicles, and we are here for it. The Lone Star State plans to place charging stations for electric cars in 50 mile intervals on most interstates, a massive victory for those of us who want to curb greenhouse gas emissions! The goal of the project is to support 1 million electric vehicles, and it's time other states step up and commit to the same.
Sign now to demand California, Washington, and Hawaii's Departments of Transportation invest in similar efforts to dramatically increase the number of electric charging stations in their state!
The Texas Department of Transportation's five-year plan is bold, and demonstrates a commitment to climate action: to create a broad network of chargers throughout the state, making it easier for people in electric vehicles to drive on most routes, even in rural areas. Even the deprioritized interstates are set to have chargers every 70 miles, a massive improvement from where most states in the country are at in terms of electric vehicle infrastructure.
While Texas is a big carbon culprit, California, Washington, and Hawaii also have some of the highest transportation emissions of all states in the country. It is time that the country's biggest gas-guzzlers step up so that more people can use electric car alternatives! If Texas can do it – a southern state notoriously slow to acknowledge climate impacts and mitigate them – there is no excuse for any other state in the country not to!The latest IPCC report painted a terrifying picture of the future and a damning portrait of state and federal governments' sluggish efforts to mitigate climate impacts. The Department of Transportation in California, Washington and Hawaii should be prioritizing making driving electric vehicles as easy and accessible as possible. Sign the petition now to tell them: we are running out of time to curb the worst climate impacts! Invest in electric charging stations in your state!
