Climate change is the defining issue of our time, and Iowa is a crucial part of the solution. Iowa provides more of its electricity with wind energy than does any other state. Wind and biofuels support thousands of jobs in Iowa.

But, politicians and special interests have stacked the deck in favor of powerful fossil fuel companies who spend millions on campaign contributions and lobbying fees in exchange for billions in corporate welfare. The time is now to ensure that whomever is elected in 2016 has a climate change plan for the future.

If we are going to lead on renewable energy, we need our leaders to lead with us.  As Iowans, we have the power to make politicians listen. But, with great power comes great responsibility.

That's why we are asking the 2016 presidential candidates to commit to powering America with 50 percent renewable energy by 2030 and to lay out realistic plans to do it.
