Occupy Congress: Jobs for the 99%

The unemployment rate in the U.S. has stagnated at 9%. Students emerging from college find themselves hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and with no hope of making this month's rent, let alone any medical bills. America has had enough.

All over the country, ordinary people have rallied to "Occupy America." But though their voices are loud on the streets, Congress has yet to hear them in Washington. President Obama's jobs bill has met opposition at every turn, largely from Republicans trying to protect America's wealthiest citizens.

Our politicians have no right to act selfishly while millions of people wonder how they'll afford this month's groceries. Tell your rep to shape up--pass the jobs bill now.
I am writing to urge you to pass President Obama's jobs bill. To focus on the financial needs of those making over $1 million a year while the unemployment rate stagnates at 9% is not only irresponsible; it is unethical.

It is absolutely unacceptable that in a year when corporate profits represented 88% of the growth in real national income, aggregate wages and salaries only accounted for 1%. Meanwhile, a significant portion of Congress is standing up to protect the wealthy.

Listen to the wishes of your constituents, who have occupied the nation in an effort to make a difference. Pass President Obama's jobs bill.
