As domestic violence reports are skyrocketing due to mounting tensions caused by COVID-19, LGBTQ youth who live in unsafe, unsupportive homes are living in fear of violence and have limited access to live-saving in-person support programs. As a result, many are afraid to flee their homes, or are kicked out with nowhere to go in the middle of a global pandemic.
Before the outbreak, up to 40 percent of homeless youth identified as LGBTQ. And because of COVID-19, the number of homeless LGBTQ youth has likely increased.
