Concerns about the Belmont Pool.

Long Beach residents are requesting an independent review of City Hall decisions about the budget, location and policy behind the new Belmont Pool which we believe should be conducted by the City Auditor, Laura Doud.

Tidelands Funds were originally supposed to pay for the entire project but the latest cost estimate ($103 Million) means other sources of public funding - over $40 Million - will be needed. City Management has not revealed where the additional public money will come from and yet the project is getting rushed thru the approval process (EIR, Planning Commission.)

We believe Long Beach needs more community pools for residents and recreation, not a competition facility built on our beach for spectators to watch national & international diving, water polo and swimming events.

We respectfully request the Long Beach City Auditor to audit the Belmont Pool on behalf of concerned Long Beach residents.

Dear Long Beach City Auditor Laura Doud:

I'm a Long Beach resident and I'm writing to ask your assistance to independently audit the budget, location and policy decisions made by Long Beach City Council and city management for the new Belmont Pool.

Thank you.
