Give Polar Bears a Fighting Chance

Polar bears lackadaisically roam the pristine white tundra, they can't move too fast for fear of overheating. They waggle their heads at one another when they're feeling playful, and they roll in the snow to clean themselves. Their lush white coats and thick layers of fat protect them from the cold.

The polar bear is a beloved animal that has fascinated humans for generations; unfortunately, global warming threatens the polar bear, and makes all of these lovable qualities a detriment to its survival.

Natural polar bear characteristics: thick, insulating layers of skin, slow movement, and a snowy habitat, clash with the rise of global warming. Polar bears are losing their homes as the ice is literally melts from under their feet. And the rising heat is forcing them to lose their fatty layers, hindering their ability to reproduce healthy cubs. It's estimated that eight of the nineteen polar bear subpopulations are in decline.

The only way to give polar bears a fighting chance at survival is to fight global warming tooth and nail. A strong climate and energy bill that caps America's emissions can greatly reduce the advancement of global warming and help save our polar bears.

Dear Congress member,

The polar bear is a beloved animal that has fascinated humans for generations. Unfortunately, these gentle giants are threatened by global warming, and natural polar bear characteristics, like thick, insulating skin, slow movement, and a snowy habitat, are a detriment to its survival.

Polar bears are losing their homes as the ice is literally melts from under their feet. And the rising heat is forcing them to lose their fatty layers, hindering their ability to reproduce healthy cubs. It's estimated that eight of the nineteen polar bear subpopulations are in decline. They are a highly vulnerable and endangered species: as their habitat, and the polar bears themselves, shrink, they head further and further toward permanent extinction.
