Urge Congress to Support Our Healthcare Workers!

Across the county, healthcare workers are experiencing severe shortages in personal protective equipment (PPE) as they work to provide vital care to COVID-19 patients. We need your voice: tell Congress that they must do everything possible to increase PPE production and distribution to protect healthcare workers and our patients.

Here in Colorado, we have been hearing that many staff including doctors don't have access to PPE. We've heard from RNs that they are reusing disposable masks, wiping masks down and passing them to the next RN on shift. This puts our healthcare workers and our patients at great risk. We must do better.

Please take a minute to send this email to President Trump and your Members of Congress and if you have a personal story, please add it as a comment.
Dear [Representative],

As your constituent, I urge you to immediately ensure that necessary personal protection equipment (PPE) is available to all healthcare workers and systems to ensure safe working environments during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

[Your comment will be added here]

We know that healthcare workers — nurses, doctors, nurse assistants, respiratory therapists and others— across all healthcare settings, are facing severe shortages of PPE, including masks and N95 respirators, that will leave many unprotected and potentially infected by the virus. The CDC recently issued guidance to healthcare workers to use bandanas and scarves, which don't protect against COVID-19, if the supply of N95 respirators runs out.

President Trump recently invoked the Defense Production Act — but has yet to use these powers to direct and incentivize American businesses to produce the needed PPE and equipment. While some PPE production has ramped up in recent weeks, we need to do more to protect our patients and healthcare workers. We need to ensure that we have enough N95 respirators, eye shields, masks, gloves, gowns and the other PPE necessary to keep our nurses, respiratory therapists, CNAs, doctors and other healthcare professionals safe.

Congress and the Administration must prioritize every available option, including using the broad power of the Defense Production Act, to boost PPE production and prioritize distributing these supplies to frontline healthcare workers.

Sincerely,
