Stand Up For Oil Spill Prevention!

2019 is the 30th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska's Prince William Sound. This disaster spewed 11 million gallons of oil into Prince William Sound, killing up to a quarter million seabirds and thousands of marine mammals, and dozens of orcas — leaving one pod functionally extinct.

We know that an oil spill in Puget Sound would be catastrophic. Our waters support the life and natural beauty of our state and bolster our growing economy. Every day, the risk of oil spills threatens Washington's robust fishing industry, strong coastal tourism and recreation economy, and a world-class marine ecosystem, as well as the endangered Southern Resident orca.

Despite the dire consequences of an oil spill in our waters, Washington's oil spill prevention program has not kept up with the changing risk. We can't let the risk of an oil spill continue unchecked.

Please, add your name today and help us raise awareness about the importance of strong regulations to stop tanker spills before they happen. It's time to make protecting our coasts a priority!
