Save Our Mountains Moratorium Petition - Asheville, NC
ONCE OUR MAJESTIC MOUNTAINS ARE GONE ... THEY'RE GONE!
Our mountains are being devastated. Our air, water, homes, and quality of life are under attack from irresponsible development that is accelerating daily. Citizens feel betrayed. We need more stringent protection for our mountains and cities - before there is nothing left to protect. Help us save these ancient mountains and the people who love them.
The Cities of Asheville and Weaverville, other surrounding cities, and Buncombe County must design reasonable rules to protect citizens’ health, safety and quality of life.
We the undersigned demand that Council and Commissioners:
▪ Permanently ban ridgetop development.
▪ Strictly enforce development laws and impose fines for violations.
▪ Enact an immediate moratorium on large-scale downtown, subdivision, slopeside, and commercial development until we enact land use rules that protect all citizens.
