Congress: Save the Endangered Species Act Before It's Too Late!
The Trump administration is putting the needs of special interests groups first by proposing sweeping changes to the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Their attempts to dismantle the ESA would allow big polluters to build roads and pipelines through protected habitats, putting some of our most treasured wild life at risk of extinction.
The Winston-Salem Journal writes:
"Sixty-seven species that are known or believed to occur in North Carolina now have federal protection. Nearly half are plants, including the Schweinitz's sunflower found in the Charlotte area. Animals on the list range from 300-pound loggerhead sea turtles to a dainty butterfly called the Saint Francis' satyr."

We, the undersigned, urge you to oppose any attempt to weaken or dismantle the Endangered Species Act. Since being enacted in 1973, the Endangered Species Act has prevented hundreds of species from disappearing and has contributed to the recovery of many more. North Carolina is home to sixty-seven species, including the loggerhead sea turtle and the Saint Francis' satyr, that are already federally protected by this law.
The Endangered Species Act is our safety net for imperiled fish, plants and wildlife. Please vote against any attempt to weaken or dismantle this law.
