He is one of the best living composers and his work in the 007 films is absolutely thrilling. His music gave an ambiance and excitement, elements that would be absent in the films had he not been involved.
Present day composer David Arnold among his efforts to modernize the new 007 films - a poor accomplishment per se - tries also to imitate Barry's tunes, sometimes effectively and again sometimes not. The issue is that we want John Barry back to score 007. All of us, fans of James Bond want to listen to John Barry's great, multi-layered and operatic music again. He is the soul of James Bond.
