Candle light vigils for those killed and jailed in Iran

I have truly been debating actually writing this. But I can only hope that others understand what I am saying.

No one outside of Iran could have fathome what was to come after the elections.
But what we have seen is merely a glimse of perhaps our own future.
Is that why we are so affected by the tradgey and injustices being implimented by the Iranian government.
Or do we truly see the people of Iranian.
With their english signs and their courage reaching out to the West.

Neda age 26.
A college student. In a country where more then 40% of the women attend college. But only 15% actually enter the workforce,is now a symbol for the Iranian people's struggle.
Martyrdom in the Quran is perceived as the highest act for Allah. The greatest thing you can do is give your life for a cause.
I do not believe that Neda sought to be a matryr or a symbol of a revolution.I believe she knew what the consequences were stepping out into those streets that day. That she would take a stand for her beliefs, for her people.
The fact that she did not seek such notoriety is what seals her place in heaven as a True Martyr.
In the Islamic belief Martyrs are remembered. But not Neda. Not the other men and women of Iranian who have been killed and jailed because they chose to stand for freedom and liberty against tryanny.
The Mullahs have forbidden any Mosques from holding a memorial service for those who have died in the protests. In order to keep them from being seen as martyrs by others in Iran.
On Jun 21 in San Fransico over a 1000 Iranians held a candle light vigil for those fighting and dying a world away.

We have posted green screens on our social media sites we have blogged concerning this tradgey. But is it enough?
I don't know.
We can do something else.something that the families are not capable of doing.
I ask Muslims and Christians alike,Atheist and Pagans. In the coming weeks gather with your neighbors, with your friends and family, even strangers and hold a Memorial service for those who have lost their lives in the name of those things we take for granted.

If anyone in the Houston area would like to join me on the July 10th to hold a memorial service/candle light vigil for these people. Please contact me here.
