Over the weekend of November 5, 2011, we all learned that Penn State leadership covered up one of the worst crimes in the history of college football. Innocent boys were sexually abused and raped by a man they and the university trusted, Jerry Sandusky.
Force Coach Paterno and President Spanier to take responsibility for the atrocities that happened on their watch and boycott the football program until justice is served. It is time to stand up for these boys, who are now scarred young men in their 20s. We must join together and boycott Penn State football to speak out against every single person who knew better and did nothing.
If you have any doubts, I urge you to read the grand jury report. The hurt that the Penn State team will feel from a boycott of the game pales in comparison to the pain innocent boys felt at the hands of this predator. Close your eyes and put yourself in their shoes, then show Sandusky and the rest of the failed Penn State leadership what honorable solidarity looks like.
Also, please contact the university Board of Trustees at once and ask them to carry out justice. It is time for Paterno to step down as coach of the Nittany Lions and for President Graham B. Spanier to resign effective immediately.
