LOVE YOUR CAT! KEEP HER/HIM INDOORS! THEY'LL LIVE LONGER!

It is something that I see every day, and it angers me enormously! Cats wandering outside!! The owners of these poor creatures don't realize that statistics give a cat that is never allowed outside an extra ten to fifteen years of life!! You read it correctly-ten to fifteen years!!! But for some reason, most cat owners don't know or believe this fact, and continue to put their beloved pets at great risks. These risks run the gamut from being run over by a vehicle, being poisoned, getting into fights with other cats, and even being tortured by humans...the latter happening right now in Cornwall, Ontario Canada! If the cat is not spayed or neutured, they will breed like rabbits, thereby contributing to the feral cat population. There are more cats than dogs in each animal shelter you visit. Unlike dog owners, cat owners are not required to obtain a license for their animal, making it almost impossible for a cat and its owner to be reunited if parted for some reason. Not many cat owners are willing to pay for a micro chip to be inserted under the cat's skin due to the cost, especially if the owner has more than one cat. Until new laws are passed, cats are at the mercy of the decisions made by their owners. I have never allowed any of my cats to venture outside; I recently lost my Arthur who was 17 years old. I doubt very much if he would have lived for so long, if he had been allowed outside. Ask any vet, and they will tell you that your cat is much safer and happier if kept indoors at all times. Cats do NOT do well if outside; they are not like wild animals. They totally depend on their owners. Please sign my petition, or just forward it to someone you know who lets their cats roam outdoors. Many lives will be saved, and the cat population will be kept down!
