Make military women equal to men!

Women soldiers have been serving their country and dying in battle just like men. Military women already risk their lives flying helicopters into combat zones and doctoring the wounded. But outdated military rules still restrict women on the front line of combat, effectively making women soldiers second class within a very hierarchical community.

The Pentagon has finally caught up to the 21st century and recommended to Congress some new rules that say women can be assigned to a battalion and serve as medics, police, and intelligence officers. These changes will bring needed reform, in particular, to the Army and Marines which severely restrict where and how women can serve.

Until the US military makes women equal to men, women will continue to be treated as inferiors and targeted for physical and mental abuse. Tell Congress to enact the Pentagon's proposed changes.
We the undersigned ask that you enact the new rules for women in the military recommended by the Pentagon. Women have been serving in Iraq and Afghanistan for years, getting injured and dying for their country just as their male counterparts have done. It is ridiculous to keep up the pretense that women cannot serve just as capably as men in ALL sectors of the military. Furthermore, keeping women away from combat only perpetuates the idea that women do not really have what it takes to be fighters and makes women the targets of mental and physical cruelty--from their fellow soldiers.
