CONSUMER PETITION IN OPPOSITION TO HOUSE BILL NO. 203 TITLED AN ACT TO PROTECT PSYCHOTHERAPY PATIENTS.
This bill seeks to restrict the practice of Psychotherapy to a specific and very limited group of licensed health care providers.
(For more information or to view the Bill, go to http://h203.blogspot.com/)

The undersigned hereby voice their opposition to House Bill No. 203 titled: An Act to Protect Psychotherapy Patients. We do not believe House Bill No. 203, by requiring licensure of any person holding himself out to the public as a psychotherapist or representing that the service he is offering is psychotherapy protects the public. We further believe that House Bill No. 203 harms the public by limiting consumers' right to choose the care they are most comfortable with. Many consumers, who prefer alternative treatments for their mental health issues, will no longer have that option when their present choice between licensed and unlicensed providers is eliminated by this bill.
