Reinstate Nursing Home Veterns' Family Leave Time to 4 days per month
On May 29, 2009, Veterans in State Veterans Nursing Homes were reduced from FOUR DAYS PER MONTH family leave time to ONE DAY per month with their families. Veterans who have fought for our freedom are now being held hostage in State Veterans Nursing homes with only ONE DAY per month to spend with their families in their homes. We urge the Veterans Administration to change this rule and give these brave men and women back their FOUR DAYS PER MONTH family leave time. They are in these nursing homes because they have had the misfortune to grow old or disabled, through no fault of their own.
We, the undersigned, request that the Department of Veterans Affairs reinstate State Veterans Nursing Home residents to FOUR DAYS per month family leave time. Shortened family leave time is detrimental to their mental well being as well as their emotional and physical health. These men and women laid their lives on the line for our freedom are now virtully being held hostage in nursing homes through no fault of their own.
We ask for a review and change to the new rule found at 38 CFR Part 51 and 58.
