Stop desensitizing our abhorence of violence

The TV show "Dexter" stars a serial killer.  He is portrayed as the "good" guy, a CSI, who of course works for the police/justice system.  When the law cannot convict criminals he kills them.  The way he kills these people is very violent.  He is a psychopath (as is true of serial killers) who is unable to feel love, empathy, compassion or any decent human feeling.  They are very charismatic in order to manipulate people to provide what they want.  They are completely unable to change their characters.  Dexter is being presented as being able to change his - being able to have a long time love relationship with a woman and her child while still continuing to kill on a regular basis.  This is very dangerous - the message it sends is putting many people in danger.  Everyone who knew Ted Bundy (and most other serial killers) did not think he was capable of the horrendous crimes he commited.  He was smart enough to be "kind" to a few people in his life - again a ruse to make himself look good to provide some good character references in case of detection.  Serial killers can only think of themselves and what they want - get in the way of that and they will kill you without a thought.  I want this program taken off the air.  The scarey thing is that it is very popular.  How many teenage and younger children are being given the ok to do what this program touts as a good thing?  How many disenfranchized people are out there thinking they could help the law in this way without finding out their hidden agenda for these acts?  This kind of thinking is just wrong and this example is obscene and needs to be stopped.
