Stop Christchurch Cathedral

Christchurch people are no longer symbolized by a church representing Christianity. They were 100 years ago, maybe 50 years ago, nut not now, not today. In the aftermath of the quake a new Christchurch will be reborn. An opportunity exists to build a modern, ecological, multicultural city that leads the world. A city that represents all people. Not a select few. Not simply Christianity - but all religions, all people, and all ethnicities. The Christchurch Cathedral takes pride of place in the city's psyche - it should represent all the people of Christchurch. A memorial to those who died, and a shared hope for all Cantabrians leading into the future. This is the perfect opportunity to tell the world what Cantabrians represent, believe, hope, and share. Is that fairly represented by a Christian church? I think not. It' a time and opportunity to change. To send a message to the world. Don't let that message be that Christchurch is living in the past. Let that message be 'a dynamic new and exciting city that includes all people and cultures'.
