Zoning Options Needed for a better Tucson Core

In just a few weeks, the City of Tucson will celebrate its birthday by opening up the 4th Avenue Underpass.

Uniting 4th Avenue with Downtown and the University of Arizona, this underpass has track laid for the Modern Streetcar - which is a landmark in improving the city's core.

While momentous, what is sorely needed to help maximize the benefit of this transportation-oriented development are new zoning options...because of restrictions, there are many properties and areas that will not see their potential realized without new options in zoning.

Tucson is an amazing blend of history and cutting-edge progress in many ways.  We are a proud city that has a unique character by melding yesterday with tomorrow.  Our city core needs to reflect that.  Only by creating more options will we be able to take our city into the 21st century as a leader in the region.

We deserve to be proud of our Downtown - please, City Council & Mayor...the ball is in your court.  Don't drop it.
