An aquatic center has been identified in the City of Urbandale's Walnut Creek Regional Park Master Plan since 2006. The aquatic center project is identified in the City's Capital Improvement (CIP) plan, and would require a bond referendum and voter approval to be constructed. There is a sense with the City that there is likely not enough support in our community to pass a bond referendum for this type of amenity.
Projects such as this require community input and support in order to gain traction and to be moved up in the CIP project priorities.
The purpose of this petition is to show our support for the development of an aquatic center in the Walnut Creek Regional Park, and to make it a priority project for the City.
We, the undersigned citizens of Urbandale, Iowa, are supportive of the development of an aquatic center in Walnut Creek Regional Park and wish to see if become a priority for the City of Urbandale.
We acknowledge that this is a major undertaking for the City and represents a significant financial commitment. Therefore, we urge the City to begin discussions and planning for this project in the near future.
We believe the development of an aquatic center in the Walnut Creek Regional Park will improve the quality of life for Urbandale residents and will be and asset for our community for decades to come.
