Washington – Move Forward with an Animal Cruelty Registry for Animal Protection

In an ongoing endeavor to ensure the implementation of an animal cruelty registry state-by-state, it is highly commendable that Tennessee has taken that crucial step in protecting animals through such a database.  A new bill was also proposed in Washington although it is not currently in effect. You can read more on the issue at http://lakestevensledger.com/washington-needs-to-start-their-own-animal-abuse-and-cruelty-registry-p1262-121.htm.

I want to be sure that the state legislators work diligently to implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry database. Such a proposed animal cruelty registry would and should be similar in stature to that of a sex offenders and child abusers registry with severe implications.  Anyone who has committed any form of animal abuse, cruelty or neglect would be required to be on the database, with all pertinent personal information. The information therein must be undated on a regular basis with all offenders remaining listed for life.  Furthermore, any abusers on the database need to be banned from ever again owning, caring for or working with animals.  Such stipulations may seem very stringent but it is the only way that we can stand up in the name of animals and give them the protection they need and deserve.

It has been a proven fact that anyone who would harm an animal that cannot defend itself could most definitely harm people, often family members, neighbors and friends. My effort in this petition is to encourage the Washington State Legislators to be diligent in their efforts to present a bill that would protect animals and prevent future animal abuse, cruelty and neglect.  You can help with this crucial issue by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments.

Washington State Legislators – It is highly commendable that you have considered taking measures in implementing an animal cruelty registry.  I strong urge you to move forward with the database, strictly enforcing it as a vital tool in putting an end to animal cruelty, abuse and neglect.  Such a database would require anyone guilty of any type of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect to be placed on this database, requiring that it be updated on a regular basis.  Additionally, these abusers need to be banned from future pet ownership or ever working with or caring for them for a lifetime.  The database should then be shared with all breeders, shelters, pet shops and others in the pet industry as a mandatory resource.
