Governor Sonny Purdue has suggested a 75% cut of the Resource Coordination grant. A Resource Coordinator's job is to help prepare the family and pre-k child for kindergarten socially, emotionally and academically. If this proposal is accepted our future pre-k children will receive limited or no RC services.
A RC's job is not only to provide educational services, but to be there as a support for the families in their time of need and to ensure that the pre-k child has all the tools necessary to grow and function as a well educated adult.
We the undersigned citizens of Georgia and beyond have shown our strong belief in the Resource Coordination Program with our Georgia Pre-K families. We are asking for the budget cut that Governor Sonny Purdue has proposed to not be accepted. All children have the right to begin school healthy, happy, and ready to succeed.

We have received news from the State of Georgia that Governor Purdue has made his recommendations for the Georgia Budget. Unfortunately these recommendations could have a negative impact on the Georgia Pre-K program and the services our future pre-k families will receive. Governor Purdue has suggested a 75% cut of the Resource Coordination grant. A Resource Coordinator's job is to help prepare the family and pre-k child for kindergarten socially, emotionally and academically. If this proposal is accepted our future pre-k children will receive limited or no RC services.
Currently your school's Resource Coordinator provides the pre-k children and their families with the following:
- Parent Involvement Opportunities
The parent involvement activities show the pre-k child that the family values education and provides an opportunity for the child and parent to bond.
- Special Education Referrals
By the RC providing these resources for additional services the pre-k child is allowed to learn without being impeded by a delay.
The above mentioned help provide the families with a smooth transition from pre-k to kindergarten.
