Allow surplus home produced electricity to be fed into the national grid.

Escom does not currently allow electricity generated in South Africa to be fed into the grid. This means that it is extremely difficult for private householders to install solar power panels on an economic basis as any surplus electricity produced must be stored in batteries which are extremely expensive, inefficient and need frequent replacement (disposal of old batteries is also an environmental hazard). If surplus electricity produced could be fed into the grid (for credit against a users electricity bill) then it would avoid the need for battery storage and make self generation of electricity a far more viable and economic proposition. This would be good for the environment and promote local production and installation of solar panels which would help to provide employment for some of the Country's vast number of unemployed people. It would also help Escom to meet the power generation needs of the country.
