Continue the Excellence of Secondary Education in Humble ISD
Dear Board Member,
We, the undersigned, ask the Humble ISD Board of Trustees to address the issue of increasing the class load at the secondary level. It is imperative that the Board seek, explore, and implement ALL other budget cuts before taking the drastic measure of adding students to each teacher's class load.
We understand the district is in a financial crisis, yet it is unreasonable to expect teachers to maintain the high level of standards that our community has become accustomed to if we become responsible for teaching thirty or more additional students in each of our classrooms. The result will include, but not limited to, fewer labs, fewer hands-on activities, and fewer writing assignments. Teachers will be forced to give more scan-tron tests and spend less time on meaningful assignments. Most importantly, however, is that there will be more children walking through the halls of our schools without having had a meaningful relationship with an adult.
We ask you to say NO to increasing the student load for each teacher at the secondary level.
