Citizens Petition: Support Comprehensive Smokefree Policy

We the undersigned (residents of Spartanburg, SC only) believe that the health of Spartanburg workers can be greatly improved with the passage of a comprehensive smokefree ordinance - one that includes all hospitality workers in its protections.  Earning a paycheck shouldn't cost someone their health.  But, that's what many of our fellow Spartanburg citizens face when they work in a restaurant or place of business that permits smoking.  Hospitality workers are the most exposed to secondhand smoke on the job.  A full day's shift is like smoking a full pack of cigarettes - without even lighting up.  Sure, customers have a choice.... but most workers do not.  Finding a job isn't so easy in today's world.  Hospitality/restaurant workers are no less deserving of healthy workplaces than the rest of us.

We appreciate your service to this community and urge you to support a comprehensive ordinance that includes ALL workplaces.  Give us all a chance to earn a living in a healthy workplace.  Thank you for your time.
