NASA Should Not Sell Out to Corporations

NASA's mission is to "pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research." Until now, the agency has been void of the usual commercial intrusions that we experience while grounded on Earth.

But the Trump administration is seeking to change that.

NASA is exploring the possibility of selling naming rights to rockets and spacecraft, as well as allowing astronauts — whose salaries are paid for by the American public — to appear in commercials and on cereal boxes.

Selling naming rights to NASA spacecraft and allowing astronauts to be used in commercials would dishonor and degrade the space agency today and long into the future.

Add your name to this petition now to tell NASA not to sell out to corporations.

We, the undersigned, call on The National Aeronautics and Space Administration to abandon plans to permit corporate naming rights on NASA spacecraft and astronauts to take corporate endorsement deals. We ask you to respect our shared public space agency and the legacy of the generations that built them.
