Remove this Demeaning Statue from Public View
Outside of the St Cloud Hospital in St Cloud, Minnesota this statue was placed many years ago for all to see. How American Indians might view it, or may be hurt by it was not taken into consideration. The statue is simply called "The Fr. Pierz" statue after one of the Franciscan Missionary's that helped to demean, demoralize, acculterate and assimilate Indian People's in this state. Mostly against their wills.
All these many years later and this statue still stands to remind us of these attrocities to the indiginous population of this country.
Please take a stand with us, the St Cloud American Indian Movement, in our efforts to have this abomination removed, by signing this petition.
To Whom it may concern;
In regards to the "Fr. Pierz" statue located at the St Cloud Hospital, we the undersigned demand that this demeaning, and demoralizing, piece of sculpture be removed and destroyed. Those who would allow something like this to remain standing for all to view in this day and age should be ashamed.
