Im going to cut to the chase. If you are a customer of Game Stop, then you know about the hassle that is checking out at the counter i.e. the upselling that occurs.
Ex: you walk up to the counter to buy a game and from that point on you are bombarded by "would you be interested in a power up rewards card?" "would you like to subscribe to Game Informer magazine?" etc..
First and foremost this is NOT the employees fault nor is it their choice to do this to you. It is infact forced upon by corporate who is not there to see first hand how a very VERY large portion of their consumer base finds this annoying and unnecessarly time consuming.
So my propsal is this, get as many signatures as possible, sumbit this petition to Game Stop President Tony Bartel and get them to do one of two things:
- 1. Stop with the upselling altogether and maybe replace it with a clear concise sign or banner by the register explaining what you can get besides your game while at the counter, such as a rewards card etc..
- 2. If not that, then reduce the upselling to "would you like to sign up for a power up rewards card?" as that is the one thing that has an understandable use that gamers and parents alike can understand being offered.
Gamers and casual game consumers, lets see if we can make a difference here as its a lousy thing to force employees and customers to have to recite/listen to some pitch when ultimately very few people care for all the "offers". Most of the time we just want to get our game and leave.
