Justice for the Forcibly Sterilized in Uzbekistan

BBC investigative journalist Natalia Antelava has revealed that the Uzbekistan government is forcibly sterilizing women without women’s knowledge or consent.
Evidence gathered by the BBC suggests that a program, developed by the Uzbekistan government, has been sterilizing women for approximately two years.
Tens of thousands of women have been sterilized during this time as the government attempts to control Uzbekistan’s growing population.
While some doctors have a quota to sterilize perhaps four women per month in more affluent communities, doctors in rural areas are sometimes sterilizing eight women per week.
Most commonly sterilized after given a cesarean section, women who realize this supreme injustice are often harassed into remaining quiet or simply turned away.
The United Nations must launch a full investigation in order to stop these unlawful and despicable acts of forced sterilization.
Tell Secretary General Ban Ki-moon: Justice for the forcibly sterilized in Uzbekistan!
We the undersigned urge you to quickly launch an investigation concerning the forced sterilizations potentially taking place in Uzbekistan.
According to the BBC article written by investigative journalist Natalia Antelava, it is estimated that tens of thousands of women were forcibly sterilized without consent or knowledge by a government program aiming to control the country’s growing population.
The United Nations must address these claims to ensure the safety of the women of Uzbekistan and demand an end to such a appalling program.
