Reduce Landfills By Composting Wastes

Help reduce landfills by composting your wastes. The end results would be nutritious soil you can use to fertilize your plants. This is more effective and cheaper than fertilizers you buy in stores. New to composting? Dig up a hole in your backyard and bury your wastes in it or invest in a compost bin.

What can be composted?
- papers, junk mail (better if you shred it)
- used toilet paper/paper towels/paper napkins
- peelings from fruits and vegetables
- leftover or molded fruits and veggies
- dead or fresh leaves, grass, weeds, wilted flowers
- dead plants
- rice
- bread
- egg shells
- anything that you think comes from a plant, fruit, vegetable

What can't be composted? Avoid composting animal meat, dairy products, fish, and human feces.

Tip: To help speed up the compost process, save your urine in a bottle/jug and drain it onto your compost pile to help break it down. This will also help save you money from flushing the toilet often.
