Help Healthcare Workers in Community Clinics Get Their State-Funded Bonus

I am Josie Cota, a community clinic worker from Borrego Community Health Center, and throughout the pandemic, my coworkers and I put our health and our families' safety on the line to keep our communities safe.

Now my employer, along with a few other big clinic chains, is refusing to even apply for state funding that would give clinic workers like me a much-needed bonus.

Tell my employer and other community clinic CEOs: Respect clinic healthcare workers & improve patient care by applying for Clinic Workforce Stabilization Retention Payments

Community clinics serve vulnerable low-income patients, and we have some of the lowest pay rates in healthcare. That means experienced workers leave, and patient care suffers. That's why California set aside $70 million this year for bonuses of $1,000 to clinic workers, to help keep us on the job and serving patients in our communities.

But clinics have to apply to get the funding, and my clinic's management is refusing to even apply.

A $1,000 bonus might not mean a lot to our clinic CEO, but it would mean the world to me. It would mean paying off bills and being able to invest in our future & education. It would mean being able to keep up with inflation for our families.

These bonuses are state-funded, employers just need to apply before Dec 20.
